in january my brother in law was moving back home and thought that we should sign up for a spring ceramics class as a creative outlet. after taking a ceramics class years ago at valencia, i thought it would be fun to get back into it, but i didn’t think i’d love it as much as i do now. we eagerly started the eight week course in april at crealde school of art and i have come a long way since my first night at the wheel.

there is nothing quite like taking a lump of clay and forming it into something. even when i don’t make what i intend to or can’t quite nail down centering and pulling i’m and so at ease at the wheel or hand building. it feels like a moving meditation and a beautiful break from the fast pace world we live in.

facebook marketplace has become one of my go-tos when in search of new things. and i stumbled upon a kiln for sale in winter park. a few days later we bought it, took it apart and moved it to it’s new home. the lady that sold it to us is now our pottery fairy godmother because she gave us so many extra goodies, so we would be set to start firing in no time. i feel like this was a sweet beginning to a hot, but exciting, summer.

stay tuned for more!

xoxo,

jg
