my first full year as a small business owner in orlando, fl. full of highs, full of lows and full of surprises
this year was beautiful and exhausting. challenging and playful. being the only one involved in every aspect of running a small business is no east feat, but i’m here at the start of 2023 feeling older and wiser - more prepared to handle whatever challenges await me.
your goodlight
when i took the plunge last year to go from part time freelance to full-time freelance photography i knew i’d be in for a wild ride, but i also knew that it’s a ride i wanted to be on. this year i was able to say yes to some great opportunities working with small businesses in orlando. it wasn’t the busiest year, but the clients i did have were a treat to work with and for that i’m grateful. it’s definitely been a goal of mine to just focus on working with people that align with my vision, style, and that value my time and work. after working in a studio for years, i needed this venture to be intentional and i’m so glad i’ve been able to maintain that.
i’m excited for a new year that i know will be a beautiful dance between photos and pottery, a life i’ve dreamed of creating.
it’s wonky
on january first i got a dm from elise at deli desires and it pretty much changed my whole year plan for it’s wonky in the best way.
i ended up making two exclusive mug collections for their retails shelves, hosted two solo pop-ups, made a run of vases for a dear friends wedding, made pieces for us to use at home, did three back-to-back-to-back holiday pop-ups, and made it all in a corner of our patio. i still am very new to pottery, so having deli desires trust so early on in my journey was really special and encouraging. i think it gave me the confidence that i needed to know that i could make fun things that excited others as much as they excite me.
i’m still shocked by what i’ve been able to build up this year. it all has allowed me to really flourish and grow as a potter.
