another twirl around the sun

i welcomed this new year of life in with an artist date day all by myself. i have always enjoyed birthdays whether i’m celebrating with friends and family or just enjoying time alone - it’s a fresh start and a beautiful time of gratitude.

after a busy holiday season, i’ve been taking the start of this year to just be. it can be so hard as an artist and small business owner to prioritize rest, but i’ve been finding this creative break very nourishing. it’s amazing what taking a pause can do for your creativity.

so my birthday agenda was to treat myself to my favorite simple pleasures: morning matcha and a pastry, a trip to the art store, a yummy lunch, an afternoon bevy, and a nice long walk. it was a glorious day of reflection, dreaming, doodling, reading and resting.

this weekend of celebration made for one of my favorite birthdays to date.

i think this was one of my favorite birthdays because i was able get my solo day, get a husband day, and get a friends and family day. having time to truly just sit with myself and enjoy my own company allowed me to really soak up the moments with my loved ones. not sure how i got so lucky but i am feeling so grateful to be surrounded by such a supportive group of humans who are always cheering me on as i navigate my life as an artist and small business owner.
