making my spring ceramics collection

back in 2022 i had my first ever solo pop-up on the first day of spring outside of a local coffee shop. i marketed it as a ‘wonky start to spring’. it was so much fun, i sold all but a handful of pieces and left feeling like i could maybe do this thing. so this collection feels like a grown-up version of that first spring pop-up. in many ways, not much has changed, but it has been fun making this body of ceramics that feels like a finely tuned iteration of all the forms/shapes/colors that led me here.

spring is my second favorite season. living in florida it’s typically one of the two times a year that the weather is magic. my neighborhood is filled with trees blooming, birds singing all day long and flowers popping up everywhere i look. so, with this love of the ‘fresh start’ season, i thought it’d be fitting to have my first collection of the year go live with the start of spring.

march 20.2022 - my first solo pop-up

this small batch of wonky works that is live on my site as of march 21st is my visual representation of the feeling that spring gives me. all its brightness, warmth, whimsy, and color is embodied in these pieces that i hope allow people to start slow and soak up the season. this year is my year of less is more, and i feel like the pace of this collection allowed me to really take that in. i said no to other opportunities all with the hopes that honoring this space i’ve made to create will turn into something really beautiful. so i left my calendar open, focused each week on making small batches, and let myself fully embrace each step of this tedious pottery making process.

now that i am on the other side of making and am releasing these pieces out into the wild, i’m glad that i chose to just focus on this one thing and not let myself get distracted by the ‘more’ that is always out for my attention. i gave each of these my all, and i’m so pleased with this spring green ceramics collection. it feels like i hoped it would, seeing them all together! i hope the pieces from the collection, like all my work, bring joy and brighten your everyday routines :)
