july in review

this month was a big one for me. after almost four years i said goodbye to my job at the studio, i got my office space set up, i reactivated my instagram and told the world that your goodlight is open for business.

as i look back on this month, i am proud of myself for putting in the hours and all the screen time to get this business in order before august. it hasn’t been easy, but i haven’t been this happy working in years, so i know that it’s worth it. i am learning and growing so much as a photographer and small business owner already. i am ready for more. your goodlight is all mine. i am starting from scratch and i am doing what i want, because trying be everything to everyone isn’t a good business model or lifestyle.

i know this is just the beginning of hopefully something great, and that’s why i wanted to write this little recap as i step away from being a full-time employee, to a boss.

i feel grateful and humbled by the privilege i have of stepping into this dream and making it my reality. i don’t want to minimize this, like i have done myself in the past. i have spent years building the confidence and the skill to get here, and now that i am i only want to find the good light.

as i pack my bags, and get ready to jet set to iceland for a week, i am excited to return refreshed and ready to make some beautiful photo work for you.

xoxo,

jg
